Thank you,
from our house to yours.
For 20 years, Termidor® termiticide/insecticide has helped Pest Control Organizations make homeowners feel safe. In fact, more than 8 million homes in the U.S. are protected by Termidor products, the country’s #1 liquid termiticide. Through social interaction, termites transfer Termidor termiticide/insecticide to other termites, resulting in 100% control in 3 months or less. At BASF, we’d like to thank all of our valued customers for trusting Termidor since the year 2000.
For 20 years, you've had chemistry with us. You still do.
The high level of confidence that exists in the Termidor termiticide/insecticide line of products is only achieved when the manufacturer, retailers, global and local distributors and PMPs collaborate to create an excellent product and brand. You’ve got to keep your business running, too. From products like Termidor termiticide/insecticide to our customer support, we’re dedicated to helping you do both.
When Termidor termiticide/insecticide was introduced in the U.S. back in 2000, the market needed a change. It had been over 10 years since Chlordane was banned, and retreatment rates for termites were at an all-time high. Due to the increase in retreats, several pest control companies were considering getting completely out of the termite business. However, when Termidor was launched, it came with a five-year pledge, proving that Aventis stood behind its product’s efficacy and giving pest control companies peace of mind.
Over the next five years, several changes occurred with the product. First, in 2002, ants were added to the label. Then, due to the mergers and acquisitions, BASF acquired Termidor — and by the end of 2004, the five-year pledge was extended to a 10-year pledge. That same year, the PerimeterPLUS – Exterior Perimeter/Localized Interior (EP/LI) treatment was approved. This new treatment allowed pest management technicians to do an exterior perimeter treatment only on structures with no termite activity. If termite activity was detected, a localized interior treatment was applied at the source of activity.
Between 2005 and 2010, Termidor NY was launched, along with Termidor Dry and Termidor Foam. With the launches of Termidor Dry and Foam, pest control operators could treat a wall void gallery inside a home to address infestations of drywood termites. These introductions were major advantages for technicians, letting them to address additional termite pressures impacting homeowners and businesses.
In 2011, a breakthrough occurred with the introduction of Termidor HE High Efficiency termiticide. With this new termiticide, pest control technicians need less water, drill fewer holes due to wider drill/rod spacing, dig smaller trenches with a smaller trench requirement, and finish each job in half the time.
The following year, Termidor HP High Precision termiticide was launched, a liquid termiticide delivered through a hydraulic injection system. This changed the way technicians completed termite treatments. Instead of digging trenches, the high precision injection system used over 4,000 pounds of pressure to force the product into the treatment zone.
By 2016, BASF launched the restoration process, focused on retreating houses that had been treated more than 10 years ago. With restoration, the treatment of the house with Termidor HP could be done without drilling abutted slabs. This enabled PMPs to retreat homes in record time compared to traditional PerimeterPLUS treatments.
In 2018, Termidor HP II was launched. This new termiticide, which includes usage of the hydraulic injection system, reduces treatments to less than 30 minutes. Traditional EP/LI treatments can take over three hours.
BASF has consistently delivered innovations year after year, with a focus on providing further benefits to customers while maintaining the same trusted efficacy.
